The modern data center is filled with the latest and greatest technological advancements in power, cooling, security and storage. Buzzwords like: Hyperconvergence, DCIM, IoT, Edge, Cloud, Colocation, SDN, Big Data, AI, BI, ML, etc are thrown out by industry professionals all the time. The list goes on and on and every manufacturer seems to have their own version of each new offering.
Even in the rack industry there are hundreds of variations of products that individually perform the same basic function which is to physically support these innovations and the people who install and maintain them.

It would be insane for an individual to jump into that ultra-competitive, multi-billion $$$ market with a single product. So I would like to back up just a bit.

It doesn’t matter if your critical data is located in a massive colocation with thousands of cabinets or a single rack in the corner of a storeroom…eventually an actual person is going to have to work in there!

Have you ever noticed that even though most of the manufacturers and resellers include rackmount consoles with their other wares, that not one of them offer a similarly convenient seating solution?

Well, I certainly noticed and decided to do something about it.

The justification was easy:

Data centers are loud, cold and generally uncomfortable.
Rackmount consoles are installed at standing height which makes a typical chair completely impractical.
Space is almost always at a premium in a data center.
Space is at even more of a premium in an edge site.
Typing with one hand while holding a laptop with the other is not very efficient.

The goals were challenging:

Zero added footprint.
Minimal space requirement.
Convenient and quick to use.
No impact on security and safety.
True sit/stand option.

The solution was:
The ServerSeat!

Put standalone chairs and laptops where they belong.
